    CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) coaches and mentors teachers with instructional strategies, classroom management, and lesson design. In addition, incumbent(s) assists with the design and implementation of the BEGIN program by supporting goals and objectives developed by the district/BEGIN facilitators, presenting instructional modules, facilitating discussions, maintaining attendance records, and determining scoring of participation and completion of assigned tasks.

    1. Coaches and mentors teachers, in individual, and/or cadre group settings, with instructional strategies, classroom management, and lesson design and with implementing regular and supplemental curricular, instructional, and assessment programs. Facilitates dialogue groups with same grade level or subject area teachers, and conducts follow-up individually between meetings with BEGIN participants. Monthly

    2. Presents instructional modules provided by BEGIN facilitators. Provides grade level samples/materials and facilitates dialogue groups with same grade level or subject area teachers related to instructional modules. Uses audiovisual aids and other materials to complement instructional modules, including videos of self in classroom. Monthly

    3. Participates in whole group sessions by facilitating cadre group activities and discussions. Participation may include presenting or instructing to the whole group. Monthly

    4. Determines and tracks the scoring of completion of artifacts and reflections required by the BEGIN program. Maintains attendance records. Organizes paperwork and reporting for the BEGIN program. Monthly

Supports the design and implementation of the BEGIN program using district adopted regular and supplemental curricular programs, Program/Pacing guides, and aligning instruction to the WESD Roadmap. Maintains a productive culture as outlined in Domain IV Standard 10 of the Teacher Evaluation Protocol. Monthly

    6. Attend regularly scheduled BEGIN program sessions, scheduled cadre leader planning and/or training meetings, and meetings with Director of Professional Development. Monthly

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Education;
    • Three years of teaching experience;
    • Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
    • Master’s degree in Education;
    • Five to seven years of previous teaching experience;
    • Three years of participation in mentoring programs.
