    CLASS SUMMARY: Under general supervision, incumbent(s) implements the Kidspace program by ensuring a safe, creative, developmentally appropriate environment. Incumbent(s) provides day-to-day supervision of support staff and participates in the development and planning of daily activities.

    1. Assists with the supervision of Kidspace. instructional assistants to include determining workloads, approving leave requests, developing work schedules, participating in the evaluation process, and resolving staff conflicts. Keeps Program Manager informed with on-going communication. Daily

    2. Participates in promoting and maintaining parent-school relationships. Communicates with parents about basic program information and incidents involving their child. Fosters relationships with the Principals, Office Managers, teachers, and cafeteria staff with regard to the Kidspace program. Daily

    3. Develops and utilizes developmentally appropriate materials which stimulate learning, exploration, and creativity in children. Daily

    4. Participates in the development and planning of children’s daily activities. Monitors children’s activities to ensure safety at all times to include the transition to and from the program. Maintains accurate attendance records at all times. Daily

    5. Creates and maintains an environment which promotes cooperation, learning, and enjoyment for children. Assists the Program Manager to ensure center complies with all AZ DHS and Department of Education regulations. Daily

    6. Maintains program files, student records and other confidential information. Dispenses prescribed medication to children upon the coordination with the school nurse and/or health service technician. Daily

    7. Participates in the development of the annual budget, purchasing of equipment and supplies, collecting and depositing of fees, and meets with parents to explain the billing process. Weekly

    8. Participates with Program Manager in defining, establishing, and maintaining standards of acceptable behavior using positive methods which support children’s self-esteem. Weekly

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
    • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
    • Three years experience working in a child care setting or Child Development Associate credential plus twenty-four hours of academic course work;
    • Possession of Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card or proof of submission prior to hire;
    • Possession of TB Testing clearance within 30 days of hire;
    • Possession of valid CPR Certification within 30 days of hire;
    • Possession of valid First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire;
    • Possession of valid Arizona Food Handler’s License Certification.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education or related field.
