    CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) collaborates with the development of the expenditure budget, evaluates and approves contingency requests, and ensures budgetary procedures are compliant with applicable laws. In addition, incumbent(s) collaborates with state agencies and District departments in regards to the budgetary processes.

    Maintains a process to monitor expenditures in compliance with annual financial report (AFR) requirements. Performs budget related-duties such as ensuring compliance with expenditure limits and developing and implementing the process and format for internal reporting. Daily

    Collaborates with the Director of Finance to develop the annual expenditure budget and procedures for the budget process. Creates manuals for the budget process. Daily

    Coordinates with the Director of Finance to implement District procedures in order to meet changing statutory reporting requirements and to ensure that all State mandated reports are completed, audited, and submitted in an accurate and timely manner. Daily

    Evaluates, approves and processes budget transfers and requisitions. Makes recommendations to the Director of Finance regarding contingency requests as necessary. Monthly

    Works with Director of Finance, Human Resources and Payroll to ensure consistency between payroll records and authorized positions in relation to the approved spending plan. Monthly

    Analyzes data and makes recommendations to Director of Finance to ensure grant compliance regarding comparability and ranking eligibility of schools. Prepares reports for these areas per Arizona Department of Education (ADE) requirements and makes necessary budget adjustments to reflect the results. Monthly

    Reviews Medicaid reimbursement claims and makes recommendations to the Director of Finance regarding strategies that will maximize the district’s Medicaid revenues in conjunction with the grant and levy funds. Quarterly

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
    • High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired;
    • Two years of accounting, analytical, and/or budget experience.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    It is preferred that applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Administration or related field;
    • Two years of supervisory experience;
    • Five years of accounting and/or budget experience;
    • Two years of work experience in public school districts.

    • Engaging and encouraging communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information.
